What about security? what is the state? did we know that the majority of developers don’t trust the same systems/devices/firmware they are releasing?, are we shipping to production based on pressure and/or the whims of a non-understanding market? What is it there to do to make sure we release quality over quantity?. How does this all relate?.

Create a Photo Booth with Vue.js and Flask: Part 2

In Part 1 of this tutorial, we looked at how to use Vue.js and the Vonage Video API to create a photo booth app, complete with smile detection powered by the Azure Face API. In this post, you’ll learn how to add filters to your snaps, how to download all the images you’ve created, and how to send an SMS message to share a link to your images. Along the way, we’ll build out a Flask back end to serve up the application and handle the SMS messaging.

Create a Photo Booth with Vue.js and Flask: Part 1

Smile! The web is your photo booth (Doofenshmirtz’ Picture-Inator 2000) If you’re a fan of Phineas and Ferb, then you will love this Dr. Doofenshmirtz themed photo booth application! We’ll be splitting this tutorial into two parts—in the first, we’ll show how the Vonage Video API can be used to capture a video stream from a webcam. This part includes how to set up an optional auto mode that uses the Azure Face API to detect the user’s smile and take pictures automatically. The second part of the tutorial covers adding a “Filter-inator”, which allows users to take pictures with filters, as well as how to use the Vonage Messaging API to send an SMS with a link to a selected file, so that users can share photos individually or as a photo booth film strip.

DevOps + IoT + Security = No Secrets @ IoT Medellin

Lo que decidas hacer después de esto hará una gran diferencia

Women Who Code St. Louis - Success in tech: Fostering DevOps Culture

When it comes to the DevOps approach, we are not talking about the latest diet or fad or fashion. The DevOps culture explained, in a simple way, is increased collaboration between the roles of development and operations. A slightly more complex explanation is improving pipelines, release quality, devices, code, and infrastructure. And then there's all of the details: What about security? What is the state? (Did we know that the majority of developers don’t trust the same systems/devices/firmware they are releasing?) Are we shipping to production because we are facing pressure and/or the whims of a non-understanding market? What should we do to make sure we release quality over quantity? How does this all relate? I will share secret (and not-so-secret) information and leave you with it … you decide your course of action!

Make Room Not War: Inclusion Means All Y'All @ NA WTM Summit

After 18 years of ups and downs in the tech industry, Diana Rodriguez has seen good, bad and ugly. Leading worldwide community organisation for a non-profit has been an interesting experience where she found herself advocating for the exact same things she had to stand up for 18 years ago. In a sincere and honest talk about diversity, inclusion and evolution in the tech ecosystem, this isn’t a SJW rant. It’s an account of the mishaps of a woman in tech who decided to make a difference. (what do you reckon?)

Automation without frustration: Baking perfect images @ Ansible Fest

Let's talk about eliminating the frustration factor!. In our fast paced industry, multi-cloud architectures face many different challenges and for some, the immutable flow is "utopic" and difficult to maintain. How about we resolve configuring & bootstrapping services without hindering deployment time?. Using reliable tools like Ansible & Packer we can add that needed attention to detail and configure our tasks the way we need them to perform. With a few tips, "baking" images can be easier than baking cupcakes!

How to boot & use an external hard drive on new mac minis

I "rescued" a 2018 mac mini(8th Gen i3, 8Gb Ram, 128SSD). My idea was to use it for my personal home recording studio. I read the ram was upgradeable but the storage is sadly soldered into the unit. iFixit awarded the new Mac mini a repairability score of 6/10, with 10 being the easiest to repair, topping the latest MacBook Air, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and iMac Pro, and trailing only the 2013 Mac Pro.
